2 Bailey Bridges over Shyok River inaugurated Two Bailey Bridges have been inaugurated over Shyok River near Shatse Taknak in Diksit Sub Division, Leh, connecting Shyok and Nubra Valleys. These bridges were jointly inaugurated today by Brigadier VS Salaria, Commander of Siachen Brigade and Tsering Angchuk, Deputy Chairman LAHDC, Leh. These two Bailey Bridges of length 50 ft and 100 ft have been constructed by Fire and Fury Corps Engineers over Shyok River. Various dignitaries including Military officers, Mukul Beniwal, SDM Nubra and community members of Charasa, Burma, Kuri and Murgi villages attended the inauguration function. These bridges reduce the travel distance by approximately 40 kms and travel time by approximately two hours from the farthest villages in Nubra and Shyok Valleys. Inauguration of the bridges meets the requirement of the community members, greatly improving the accessibility to essential services during harsh winter season. Charasa, Burma, Kuri and Murgi villages of Siachen Region are greatly benefitted from the initiative. |
